Young Orpheus Singers welcomes members of all singing abilities, and provides a friendly and supportive environment for children to learn about music, singing and performance. The choir has been together for over 20 years. The Young Orpheus Singers is a non-auditioned group, and accepts boys and girls of any voice type aged 7 – 20 years.
The choir performs at several events each year including local and state Eisteddfodau, the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale’s Celebrity Concert and Pleasant Sunday Afternoon Concert, as well as other community and civic events.
Membership fees are payable on an annual basis. Fees are $25.00 for the eldest child and $15.00 for all younger children in the same family per annum. These fees ensure your child is covered by the Chorale’s public liability insurance.
Members of the Young Orpheus Singers are required to wear the choir’s uniform at performance events. A one-off uniform deposit is payable ($50.00 for girls uniforms, $10.00 for boys uniforms) which is refunded when the uniform is returned cleaned and in good condition.
Standard rehearsals are conducted every Wednesday afternoon from 5.30-7.00pm during state school terms. Additional rehearsals are called on an ‘as required’ basis throughout the year.
