2008 Queensland Eisteddfod Results

The choir returned from The Heritage 115th Queensland Eisteddfod held in Bundaberg over the Easter weekend as winners of the Grand Choral Championship. 66 choristers contributed to the largest winning margin for years over a record six choirs. The choir was awarded five first places, two second places and a third placing.  Results included:

First: Sacred, Madrigal, Male Chorus, Modern Chorus and Small Group contests
Second: Chief and Welsh Hymn contests
Third: Ladies Chorus, Small Hymn Singing Group contests

Grant Acknowledgement

The Ipswich Orpheus Chorale acknowledges assistance given to the Chorale by the Queensland Government's GAMBLING COMMUNITY BENEFIT FUND following the successful acquisition of a grant in March 2007.  This grant funded the purchase of a new digital piano, photocopier and radio microphones.

These Grants have made a substantial contribution to the cultural life of the City of Ipswich.
